This is an introductory post of myself, the redesign of my new website, and what to expect in the future from this blog.
A little bit about myself
I am Chris Allen, a 25-year-old student at Art Institute of Portland. I have had the privilege of developing sites for SightWorks for the last year and a half. I write this as I enter my last week of classes before receiving my Bachelor of Science in Web Design and Interactive Media from the Art Institute of Portland. It feels a little surreal to me after being in school for 20 plus years, but now I am ready to take the next step in my professional career.
The newly redesigned site
This site does not just come with a fresh new design, a lot of hard work was put into make cpallen.com optimized for speed, SEO, and accessibility. I started off by making the decision from leaving a static site behind and using WordPress as my platform to build dynamic content. I utilized trusted plugins such as WordPress SEO by Yoast for SEO and W3 Total Cache for speed as well as custom built plugins and templates for accessibility. I am very pleased with the overall outcome.
What to expect from this blog
I have learned how important it is to have a voice and not be scared to put yourself out there when it comes to the web community. This led me to my decision for developing this blog. I hope to use this blog as a place to share, learn, and teach others from my experiences within web related subjects.
My goal is to produce a minimum of two blog posts a month, which will range from tutorials, shared resources, or discussing some web design or development related topic.
