Awhile ago I created a pen for an idea that I had for my new portfolio site. The concept never made it past ideation, but the pen became pretty popular so I decided to write a little bit about it.

If you look below at the markup, you can see it is not very semantic. This was somewhat intentional. I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could execute this idea using only HTML and CSS. I was successfully, and in the process furthered my knowledge of creating shapes using CSS, which I now can utilize for various layout features.

The Concept

The concept of the theme was meant to be a playful display of my uprising in the Pacific northwest. I used a monochromatic color scheme that helps provide a playful feel. To add to the design I utilized CSS animation with the clouds. I believe this is what completes the design by giving it depth.

Show me what you got!

I believe this pen can be improved! Fork this pen and show me how you improved on it! Comment a link or email me. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
